Stainless steel components, specifically those produced from ASTM A182 specification, say for eg. flanges are generally hot worked. This specification covers hot worked austenitic stainless steel grades, which are produced with the intention of being used at high temperature conditions. This being said, the ASTM A182 Flange when hot worked, is able to provide many benefits. One of the better known advantages is that the porosity of ASTM A182 Threaded Flange has been either reduced or closed completely during deformation. Therefore the ASTM A182 Slip On Flange is able to provide leak free transportation if used in the conveyance of flammable and highly dangerous materials such as oil, gas or steam. This is a property which finds many takers in the oil and gas industry as well as the petrochemical industry, where clients cannot afford to have any leaks for fear of accidents or for wastage of products.

While many alloy grades are considered as a match for this specification, the ASTM A182 F316 Standard is a material that is able to provide optimum properties. For instance, in comparison to grade 304, the aforementioned grade 316 Stainless Steel A182 F11 Flange adds much more value to the application by being resilient to various forms of corrosion as well as having higher tensile strength and higher hardness properties. Another benefit offered by hot working is that at elevated temperatures, there is an increase in diffusion, which in turn aids in the elimination or reduction of chemical inhomogeneities in the ASTM A182 Blind Flange.
